IMMINENT CLOSURE - BE ADVISED:

'YAHOO' by whom my service has thus far been provided, has notified me and a number of my
acquaintances that they are changing their Terms of Service and will not, in future, host sites which contain
'adult content'.  Having had some difficulty contacting the required department I cannot be entirely sure, but
it appears that Vraimenterotique.com will be closing, perhaps within the next few days.  I am currently
looking for a new host.

This IS a huge disappointment to me, and not only on a personal level.

There is material on the web which perhaps should not be there, though often that is going to be a
personal and subjective opinion.  There is material which some would argue should not be available to
some  young people for whom the label 'do not enter unless you are an adult' may serve only as an
invitation to break the rules.  For some reason we are perceived as more responsible for what youngsters
are permitted to access than are their own parents.

There is not a single convincing study which links exposure to adult material with anti-social tendencies.
Whilst there are individuals who search out such material and behave reprehensibly, their inclination to
behave in such ways pre-exists and the closure to that minority of legitimate adult and erotic material will
only serve to make them look - and find what they're looking for - elsewhere.  It makes none of us, and
none of our children, any safer.

A much bigger issue, however, is represented by what is an act of censorship.

As an English, British, UK citizen whose country is in military alliance with the US, whose country,
alongside the US, has been targeted by 'Islamist' terrorists and whose British and American brothers are
fighting and dying in Iraq and Afghanistan, it saddens me beyond belief to find Western companies
imposing censorship on freedom of expression in a way the Taliban, Al Qaeda and the rest would proud of.

What, truly, does it say about our societies when we begin to adopt the 'moralities' of our bitterest and
most dangerous enemies in finding obscenity in the greatest beauties and delights of nature?  What does
it say about about our societies that descriptions and images of people making love or delighting in their
nature are less acceptable than descriptions and images of people committing murder and engaging in
torture?  For these last are mainstream fare, viewable on your TV any night.
